Puget Sound Correspondence Society Letter Writing Meetup

pscs.jpg

Join us to write letters and meet other stationery lovers!
Who: The newly formed PSCS and you!
When: Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 5-7pm
Where: The Constellation & Co. Shop at Fishermen's Terminal
1900 W. Nickerson St., Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98119
Cost: Free! There will even be goodies for you to take home!
All are welcome! No sign up required.

About Puget Sound Correspondence Society:
Seattle is one of those places that is socially cold on many levels and it takes some time to break into it and to find the part of the city you want to call home.  Letter writing is seen by many as a solitary affair when really its about social as an introvert like me can get!  It’s quite a bit of fun to get together, share your stationery stash and meet the people behind the pen!

I just want to write for letter writings sake and I wanted people to do it with! There are letter writing social clubs all over the place, including a really amazing one in Portland Oregon and Guernsey in the Channel Islands but none in Seattle and I figured it’s time we had one. I have no idea how far reaching this will get but I do hope it creates a place to meet some like minded people, maybe trade some postage stamps, play with a typewriter for the first or 100th time and allow folks to feel like they have found their little corner of Seattle to belong to even in a supposedly solitary affair like Letter Writing.

About the organizer:
My name is Chelsea, I’m 31 years old and I love letters. I’ve been writing letters since I was a oddball, homeschooled kid in isolated Hawaii and throughout my adult life living and traveling in Alaska, Europe, New Zealand and Seattle. I’ve always found writing letters to be my way of connecting with the world, whether it’s love letters to some great (and some not so great) men, friends overseas or even my amazing and patient mom. I’ve always loved the type of letters that are like a conversation and when you can place yourself in the life of the writer for the time you’re reading their letter. Also who doesn’t love getting something other then a bill in the mail! I started collecting typewriters a few years back and I thoroughly enjoy a quiet early morning with a cup of earl grey and typing off replies to the letters I’ve received.
