Empathy, Kindness, Respect shirts have returned!
In January 2016, I designed a poster to carry in the Seattle Women's March. I'd been thinking for days about what to say on the poster. I had so many swirling thoughts and ideas. I wanted to show others that I care about them. I wanted to say that injustice isn't fine with me. I wanted words to aspire to. These are the three words I chose. They felt right at the time, and they've settled into my heart and life as goals for this year, and goals for myself.
EMPATHY: THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND SHARE THE FEELINGS OF ANOTHER.
KINDNESS: THE QUALITY OF BEING FRIENDLY, GENEROUS, AND CONSIDERATE.
RESPECT: A FEELING OF DEEP ADMIRATION FOR SOMEONE OR SOMETHING ELICITED BY THEIR ABILITIES, QUALITIES, OR ACHIEVEMENTS.
I don't do these things perfectly, but they're who I want to be. They're what I want for my family. They're what I want to show to others.
I felt good about this sentiment on a poster, but it's even better on shirts. We've partnered with Cotton Bureau once again to offer Empathy, Kindness, Respect shirts! Just like last time, I'll be donating all proceeds above cost to the International Rescue Committee and Refugee Women's Alliance, refugee aid organizations.
Preorders opened today, and will run until October 6, 2017 at 8:00 PM (EDT). I personally invite you to partner with us to spread this positive message and show practical care for people who truly need it.
These shirts are super soft and the design is a really high quality screenprint. Make sure to check out their sizing guide before you order - the women's shirts run a few sizes small. I usually wear an XS shirt and I order a Medium in this shirt.) Infant and kid sizes are available too! Here are the links:
